Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas season. We enjoyed many parties, lots of food and happy memories. The kids were a lot of fun. Alicia loved the Christmas story and would act it out as she played with her nativity. She also loved all the Christmas songs - she still belts out "Glooo-ri-a" and Trey's update version of "Go Tell in on the Mountain" as we go grocery shopping. Always a song in her heart! Since she loves birthdays, she was also quick to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. Zachary learned to say Jesus, snowman and Santa - and he got quite proficient at opening presents whether his or someone else's : ) After a while Zachary learned not to pull the ornaments off the tree, except for the balls - they had to go up high. After all balls are for throwing, right??

There was no sitting on Santa's lap again this year. Alicia saw Santa at a craft show and at the Christmas Lights Festival, but she didn't want to get anywhere near him. Christmas morning she did not want to come into the den. Once she finally did, she quickly glanced at her presents and then looked away - completely deadpan expression - no excitement whatsoever. We tried to get her to hold her guitar or look in her stocking, but she was freaking out - she didn't want anything to do with her toys. Only after she asked us where Santa was did we realize that she thought he was STILL HERE. I guess it is a little creepy for a weird looking old man to come into one's house at night, and if she doesn't want to see him in daylight, she definitely doesn't want him in her house at night! After we assured her that he was no longer here, she looked at her toys and began to have fun with them.
Some of Alicia's favorite toys were her pink guitar, ballet leotard & shoes, silver sparkly shoes, headbands, art easel and princess dolls. Here is our princess, ballerina, guitarist at her best! She wore the ballet outfit for days! Even under her clothes when I insisted that she needed something warmer!
Zachary was very infatuated with Elmo, tractors and choo-choos this Christmas. Some of his favorite toys were his fire engine, race cars, Elmo jack-n-the-box, hammer toy, ball popper and truck/tractor books.
Santa left him a table to build blocks on since he loves all types of blocks. However, so far he enjoys climbing on it and taking all the blocks OFF the table. He had fun with the new climbing toy on Christmas morning!
After Christmas celebrations in Charleston, we headed to Wilmington for a week. Zachary got to sit on a REAL tractor with Gdad. Alicia decided that for a moment she would try it out too - typically she says tractors are "icky".

The Eelco and Fisher let Alicia get in on the fun of demolishing the gingerbread house they had built!
