It has been a busy Fall. We started October off with the kid's first trip to a zoo. We went to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. Alicia's favorite part was watching the penguins, feeding the koi and riding the train. She liked the giraffes also, but although we went to feed him THREE times, we were never successful at it. The first 2 times, they kept their distance. The third time, a schoolgroup had just purchased all the remaining food. We'll have to try another time.
Although, it was a comfortable low-mid 70's outside, our sweet Alicia was highly irritable after about an hour because she was "sweating" or the "sun was in her eyes". She hates being hot and having "hair sticking to my neck!" So the "fun trip" turned out to be a bit more stressful than I'd imagined.
Zachary was amazingly good even though he was missing his nap. I was hoping he'd get to see the monkeys play, but they were hiding or just sitting when we visited them. He would mimic the birds as they screeched at each other. He recognized elephants and was just happy seeing animals move or getting pushed around in the stroller.
