Zachary had his 6 month check up on 3/5/10. He weighed in at 17 lb. 14 oz. They measure his length to be only 27 inches, but I know that is 1-1.5 inches off since he is already wearing size 12 mth. sleepers and onsies. I also know he has grown more than 1/4 inch in the last 2 months!
At 6 months he had all 4 of his bottom teeth. As of today he has 7 teeth! Only 1 more to go for this first round of teeth! Yep - he has cut 5 teeth in 2.5 weeks! And let me say that it has been a tough 2.5 weeks for him! Poor guy! He has been restless, fussy, runny nose, chapped cheeks from drool, wouldn't nurse so I had to bottle feed him occasionally... I finally had him eating several tablespoons of solids 2-3 times a day, and then he quit eating solids for a week - 2 days ago he started eating again. Hopefully he can cut the last tooth and be back to my happy boy! Check out those pearly whites!
In addition to all the teething discomfort he FINALLY learned to roll back to tummy. Yea Z! However, the problem with that is he hates his tummy and is stuck there. So he cries and cries. Napping has been a challenge. At first we put his infant positioner back in the crib, but he quickly learned to "flip" in that too and to break it apart (held together with velcro). A few days he slept in the swing. It has just been tough. He has fallen asleep on his belly a few times, but that typically means only a 1/2 hour nap rather than a long nap. But TODAY he has rolled belly to back TWICE! I'm encouraged!
Before all this teething, not eating and rolling started, he had begun sleeping through some nights. Hopefully we will get back to that soon!
Now for the fun stuff. His Daddy is his favorite person. He just beams anytime he makes eye contact with Trey. I was feeding him yesterday and all of a sudden he got so excited - I thought it was the sweet potatoes - nope! Daddy had peeped out of the bedroom and was looking at him. Too cute! He also actively follows Alicia a lot. She sat in the rocker in his room while he was in the swing and read him books for 15-20 minutes this past week. They also often play together under his gym.
The gym - wow! A boy is definitely different! He pulls all of the toys off of the gym and pulls the plastic links out of the toys. It gets completely taken apart! I'm amazed! The exersaucer also remains a favorite place to play and jump. And everything gets put in the mouth now. He is a fan on chewing on softer toys rather than traditional firmer teething toys.
Food facts: He has had rice and oatmeal cereals, squash, carrots, prunes and sweet potatoes. He seems to like them all! Green veggies will be this coming week!
