Zachary at 5 months!

At five months old, Zachary has already cut 2 bottom teeth! We introduced rice cereal the day before he turned 5 months. I assumed that since he was such a big boy that he would love to eat. It turns out that he just doesn't care. These pictures show his lack of expression. Sometimes he will eat 1/2 Tbs of cereal, other times none. He rarely opens his mouth for it or grabs the spoon. I have to put the spoon in his mouth and just hope he doesn't spit it back out. I've experimented with cereal thickness and time of day, but he just isn't in to it.

He is napping well right now. He has been taking a long nap in the morning and after lunch - but only if he is in the bassinet in our room. On good days he also takes a short nap in the evening. He is still not sleeping through the night, but is going 6-7 hours now (back to where he was at Thanksgiving! crazy!). He wakes around 4 or 5 a.m. and just talks loudly - like he is calling me, but he doesn't really cry. I've tried giving him a little time in hopes that he puts himself back to sleep - but he will talk non-stop for over an hour. At that point, I just want to nurse him so he will go back to sleep! I've also tried nurse him for 1/2 the time, but every time I do that he is up one hour later wanting more food.

When awake, Zachary is typically a very happy and content baby. He is far too content with life to want to roll over. He actually did roll tummy to back one day - but I think it may have been an accident, because he hasn't since. He can pick up toys and put them in his mouth now and can make a lot of his musical toys play music. He likes peek-a-boo and still goes crazy hitting and pulling any hanging toy. He has a major stare - Trey loves to have staring contests with him. They go on for several minutes. I think it is him loving us with his eyes. It is too sweet having him look in our eyes for so long.

Zachary is watching Alicia more and more. I can tell she is bonding with him a lot more now that he smiles at her and plays a little. It melts my heart when she stokes his cheek and says "I love you baby brother." One of her favorite things is for me to put them both in one crib when I get them up in the morning. She is so sweet lying beside him or showing him the toys!
