Our Sweet Blessing Zachary
Zachary Milton Truluck was born Friday, August 28 at 8:19 p.m. He weighed in at 8 lb. 12 oz. and was 21 inches long. The name Zachary means "The Lord remembers." Milton is Trey's first name as well as his dad and grandfather's name. Milton also was the name of one of my grandfather's and the middle name of a great-grandfather.
Alicia has been great with him so far. She loves to hug and kiss him. Thankfully he is a happy, sleepy baby so he doesn't compete with her all day long. The only jealousy she has shown is when one of her grandmothers want to hold him. Don't mess with her grandmothers! She knows where to get some spoiling!! Here is her first meeting with Zachary when he was only minutes old. I could hear her saying excitedly over and over, "Baby! Baby 'Bruder'!" as I was still in the delivery room.
The Truluck Family right after Zachary's birth.
Alicia and Zachary both swaddled up and looking at each other.
The Birth Story
I was 7-8 cm dilated Friday morning so I went into the hospital since it seemed my body wasn't going to go into labor, and I wasn't interested in going home and not making it back to the hospital in time if I did go into labor. They broke my water at 2:40 pm, and everyone thought I'd immediately go into labor and have a baby in a couple of hours. Well.... at 5 pm they started pitocin since I wasn't progressing on my own. At 6 pm I still had not progressed much so they had to increase the pitocin. I had told the nurses and Doctor that my epidural was not working, but I had no pain so I don't think that they believed me. They said I was having contractions, but I insisted that they weren't the real kind so they put in an interuterine catheter - and sure enough, they were not strong. Just the same contractions I'd been having for months. A little after 6 pm the real deal kicked in and after two adjustments they finally got the epidural working less than 1/2 hr. before the pushing began. This time around I only pushed for 18 minutes. After taking 2 1/2 hr. with Alicia that was quite a gift!
He has been a good sleeper so far. The first week we battled jaudice which made him extremely tired and not interested in eating, but since then he has done well. Here is my sweet boy at 8 days old.

So excited...and Matt and I can't wait to meet him!
Oh, he is so precious!!! I know Alicia will be quite the "big sister". What a blessing to have a daughter and then a son to carry on the Milton name. Kelly, we are so proud of you....just a natural mother. Hope we can meet the little man soon. Love to all, Uncle Charles and Aunt Kay
Love all the pictures Kelly!
